It won't hurt a bit. But it will help cheer a lot of people. :)

Cavaliers #1 reviewed!

Cavaliers #1 coverCavaliers #1 by Noor Hafizah

Malaysian writer and artist Noor Hafizah makes her comics debut in this new small press comic from Main Enterprises. The Cavaliers are a five young men with one foot in late adolescence and the other in early adulthood. The introductory page provides stats on each as well as a brief backgrounder on the story's realm.

The influences of RPGs, Manga, and superhero comics are nicely melded into a rich fantasy world filled with demons, goblins, elves, and magic. The young Cavaliers each possess unique powers plus the ability to transform into the innate spirit that lies within—dragon, werewolf, demon, gryphon, and serpent.

Hafizah has obviously immersed herself in the world of this series. It's clear that she's spent considerable thought on the background of her characters and the history of their worlds. The story itself is action oriented; filled with battles employing both brute strength and magic powers, but there's also plenty of threads that begin to reveal the more complex history beneath the surface that ultimately drives the story.Panels from Cavaliers #1

The characters, artwork, and humor seem targeted at younger readers, but there's enough substance for anyone who enjoys a good fantasy to find worthwhile.

Hafizah's artwork is strongly influenced by Manga: her cartoony/realistic style is ambitious and nicely rendered. The first issue of Cavaliers marks a strong debut. Let's hope there's many more editions.

Cavaliers #1 is 28 b&w pages, plus color cover. Jim Main, publisher. Richard Sullivan, production manager. Wally Lowe, colorist (front cover). It's available for $3.95 (postage paid) from Main Enterprises. Noor Hafizah (aka Lady Fieza) on Cloven Hand Comics and ComicSpace.

Malaysia's first lady comic artist

I was honored to meet Puan Nora Abdullah, during the first peKOMIK minicon at PWTC on the 13th April 2008, who also happened to be the first lady comic artist in Malaysia. She inspired me to keep pursuing in the comic business. Congratulations, ma'am! :)

You Are Loved

Even though at the moment my life is making a low plunge in the seas, i still struggle to get some air at the surface. I am doing fine at that now. :)

And yes, i am not giving up yet.

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I...I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I...I will break it for you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I...I will be there to find you

Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I...I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

You are loved
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Every one needs to be heard
You are loved

Down memory lane again...

What i used to draw 10 years or more ago.... LOL XD!! Back then they have costumes. I was so inspired by Legion of Superheroes that i created costumes for The Cavaliers. Which looked pretty lame to me now. But i'm glad i did that. :D

Cavaliers #1 comic pages sample

A few pages from the comic. I already have a few ideas about cavs #2. It's going to be a the origin story of how it happened. Pretty tough coz Jim wanted it to be a stand alone comic, with no continuation for the next episode. So no problem. ;-)

Cavaliers #1 comic cover

So this is how the cover looks like. That goblins at the back were last minute addition. The colors were done by Wally Lowe.

Talk about memory lane...

Imagine i grew up fantasizing about them. LOL!!! XD

Cavaliers #1 is out now!

I am so happy to announce that my long awaited comic book (imagine 5 years!!) the Cavaliers has finally been published in America! My dream has come true!!! Alhamdulillah praise be to God! ^__^

So here's the link to the comic page and how to buy it. I think i just received a few original comics in the mailbox so i have to check it out!

I am very very happy and i would love to continue the adventures of the fantasy children anytime! (well that's what they call them anyway)

Till then, keep hangin' tough! :p

Brush of death

When people say don't bring your frustrations on the road, they mean it.

I nearly fell off a bridge trying to chase a crazed woman driver, because she drove like mad next to me. I kept tailgating her and i could not lose her from my sight. Already that stress and tensions that i kept in me were all getting out through my driving. I felt an adrenaline rush when i avoided 4 cars from colliding and crashing in them.

After all that, i cooled down and realized i was trying to kill myself.

I was very much stressed these few days. It took me long to realize that i was working on other people's folio than my own. I have not started on working on mine. And plus, my in-house deadline was long due. Editors were all angry at me. At one point i was preparing to even get a 'you're fired!' letter from the boss above. I had so many things to do in so little time and i was very much drowning.

*sigh*

Life must go on.
