Aaahhhh yes.... It's been like what.... ages since i last updated my blog? very scary indeed. But yes... lots of things happened while i was gone. I got married, i have a kid, i've been procrastinating as usual..... hahahahhaha same old, same old. But Alhamdulillah, after 5 months of giving birth to sweet lil Rabiatul Adawiyah (or little wonder woman), I got an offer from Gary, my bro's friend. A 3 day caricature stint at Summit USJ. It's been awhile since i drew anything so me and my hubby journeyed on to the place on the 18th of Dec to start caricaturing. My fingers were a little stiff, due to the lack of 'wriggling' my fingers (means i haven't been drawing for like...... 9 plus 5....14 months?), so i had a little difficulties. With a few drawings, i managed to loosen up my fingers, Alhamdulillah. :D

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

That never happened to me.

This is the second time this month that i have been ill. I was succumbed to the highest fever of my life last Tuesday. And that was after i nearly thought i had the H1N1 flu before. All of a sudden when i got up in the morning, i was burning, couldn't barely move, weak and invulnerable. No one didn't bother to check how hot i was. Standing a few inches from me was enough to know that i was extremely burning. Didn't go to work for 4 days and didn't eat for 4 days. I guess i lost 2 kilos by then.

It's kind of irritating when you keep getting sick and sick over again. Is it because of my cats at home? I don't think so.

My comic projects and my illustration projects are held back because i can't look around without tears streaming from my eyes, and i'm not even crying. I'm that hot!

Today i'm glad that i have recovered a little. Although i am still coughing away, and my voice is deeper than Darth Vader's (eat your heart out, Anakin!)

And yes, there's work to be done! First, i need to write to Jim. :p

Pekomik Awards and Illustrator Gathering 2009 at PWTC

I'm glad the International Book Fair 2009 at PWTC is over. Been really busy and been running here and there helping around with the errands and the chores. It's been fun, i met new friends, familiar faces and hyperactive kids. Didn't get a chance to check out the books though because well, been running up and down creating havoc and being panicky all over. LOL XD!

Anyway, I get a chance to present the awards to the winners of the Comic Awards 2009. So i get to go back and forth on stage and meet the winners and pass them their trophies and certs. Whoopee. Met up with my hero, Nora Abdullah and seriously, i actually cried when i held her hand. Since i met her last year, her works and her aspiration gives me the motivation to keep moving on in the comics world. After all, she's Malaysia's first female comic artist. Thanx for the great comics, Nora! You inspired me to the level where i feel so humble at your presence.

The awards went well but it's also kind of controversial. Some people are not really satisfied with the results, and because of that not much people came by for the Illustrator's Gathering the next day. Only 12 people showed up. But we still had a good time discussing the woes of illustrators and stuff. I think smaller crowds are easier to control.

I'm happy to say that next month i'll be moving forward by giving workshops and talks (still need to curb my stage fright) to school kids across Selangor. I think i like working like this. It beats being in the office 9 to 6.

PWTC's stint and i froze

I've been given a chance by MBBY (Malaysian Board on Books for Young People) to do a short presentation and talk on how to break into the US comic industry at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC). This was the 2nd time i'm presenting in front of the crowd. First was at a school.

I thought everything would be okay. I had prepared some texts and some visual aids. The crowd were getting bigger and bigger. I realized i was biting my nails. Then the session started. I was going to be the next after this guy present his talk on how to write novels.

Then my time came. I froze.

I started panicking and i fumbled through my texts. I was saying things that i didn't write, i didn't prepare. The crowd kept looking at me. I was terribly terrified.

Then the questions and answers session. A few questions i could answer, but came the time bomb question. I couldn't answer it, but i tried every possible way. I felt very awful already and i told the other presenter to go on.

I hid in the toilet for half an hour.

Then when i came by, most of my friends rushed to me and gave me support. I felt pretty okay after that.

Later in the evening my friend told me that i was on tv. Wow, i must have been very excited to hear that. I guess it's worthwhile after all.

So the next workshop will be next month. I hope this time i can curb my stage fright.

Travelling in Banda Aceh

Here are some pictures taken from my previous journey to Banda Aceh. For your information, Aceh was devastatingly hit by tsunami on the 24th December 2004. My cousin's family from Aceh didn't make it alive, except for the son, surviving on the highest point of a coconut tree. His name was Al-Ghazali and he's still traumatized by the incident. Only when we travelled to meet him did he came to Aceh after so long. Anyway, here are some pictures i took.

'Yaoi' relationships in The Cavaliers

(For those who find boy love relationships uncomfortable, you don't have to see the sketches. =))

I discovered that i haven't been reading much yaoi stuffs as before. Like, it's passing me by. Not as obsessed as before anyway. Is it because i'm getting old? LOL!

That doesn't mean I'm stopping though. Well, maybe not now anyway. The latest victims of my crazy imagination are The Cavaliers. Yup, those 5 young boys who inherit the power of the Gods. No kidding. Whoever would have thought that they are actually head over heels with one another?

The first pairing i did was Julian and Jordan. I've been drawing this couple since a few years back. I remembered Allyn did a fan art about it. Basically it's kind of a love-hate relationship. Julian being the uke and Jordan being the seme. I had fun with these two. I already have ideas for a yaoi doujinshi of these two buggers. Bwaahahaha!

Second pairing would fall on Blaze and Jason. I seem to be drawn to this couple. First of all, Jason has this uke-ish traits. He's pretty, tall, shy, polite, considerate (way opposite of his brother Jordan). What more can you ask for? Oh. And gentle too. Enter Blaze. Brave, persistent, confident, protective, leader, handsome. Put them together and what do you get? Perfect couple!

Like any other relationships, there will always be obstacles along the journey. But they still stick on together like velcro.

Enough said. Here's some of the sketches and doodles i did on these 'ethereal' couple. :-D

I was so proud of it that i just doodled out Adriel Astin (c) and Jason Dorwille (c) being so happy. :) Also tried doodling using the wacom tablet but i'm still not very good at mastering it. Hahaha. :p

Shall we dance?

I'm a dance dance revolution freak. Whenever i go to arcades, i will never miss a chance to strut my stuff on the dance machine and sweat. I just love the beat, the moves, the way the body swayed when you step on the arrows accordingly. It's so exhilarating. Last Saturday i went to Pyramid with my cousins. As i was dancing, i noticed this leaflet resting on a stand next to the dance machine. Danzmania 2009 eh? I was so thinking of joining in. I mean why not? You get a PS3! I don't even have to buy! I'm already dreaming about it. But then, i decided not to. Not to say I'm chicken or anything, but i might be a little busy with workshops and projects, so i guess i'll pass. I'll just dance casually, in arcades and at home. Shall we dance?

Three of the same sketch

I was thinking of this sketch yesterday. Jordan Dorwille (c), all three of him. Well, all three modes of him anyway. Him as a young boy, him as a young adult, and him as a demon. They are all related, so i made them at least touch one another, to show the closeness of the characters. It's like three generations together, young, middle aged, old.

Oh, for those who didn't know, Jordan Dorwille (c) is one of my characters from the comic called The Cavaliers (c). It's about young people who have the gifts of the Gods and how they protect everything that is alive from evil. I'm working on #2 currently.

The dark and the bright (random sketch)

I have been meaning to do this for a long time. It's a yaoi idea between Julian and Jordan from the Cavaliers. Well, yaoi is actually boy's love term, it's popular in Japan and it's catching up pretty fast all over the world. Close example? Check out Brokeback Mountain and you will know what i mean. The thing is, i figured I'll just join in the fun and see what i can do with these two opposite attracts character. Julian is a high spirited, jovial, happy-go-lucky person. Always laughing and giggling, more like a 9 year old kid who doesn't have a care in the world. Enter Jordan. Always brooding, never smiles, very short-tempered, likes to pick up a fight, aggressive, and even rumoured to be a demon who will destory all humanity. Both of them hate each other's guts, but occasionally they hang out like good friends should. But do they have something that they don't even know, but it's there? Now that is a mystery indeed. *nods*

Dutchman off the hook for not running over cat

THE HAGUE (AFP) – A Dutchman fined for stopping at a green light so as not to run over a cat had his money returned Monday, the court said.

Cees Schuurmans was fined 75 euros (95 dollars) last year for waiting for roughly two minutes at a green traffic light, Vincent de Winkel told AFP.

"He said he was waiting for a cat to cross over to the other side."

A magistrate in the western city of Rotterdam said there was no evidence there had been no cat and ordered the authorities to give Schuurmans his money back.

Nokia 3110 Classic, the model of my cellphone that went missing

It was a terrible day for me yesterday. Well, it all happened when a few guys came to the house to fix the ceiling and the flower railings on the wall. I'd never seen them before, not the usual guys that i know, but i figured maybe Pak Ramli (their boss and our neighbor) told them to drop by. So i let them in and they went on fixing the roof and so on. I was fasting yesterday, and they were still working even though it's getting pretty late, around 7:30pm. I broke my fast and munched away. I left my cellphone in the living room, thinking that it'll be safe there, after all it's in our house. Later on, one of the guys suddenly appeared in the house, asking for a way out. I showed him the way. They all left with a huge lorry, and i wasn't suspecting anything. It was about 2 hours later that i decided to look for my phone. I always misplaced it so i tried calling the phone using the house phone. I started getting suspicious when i couldn't detect the ring tone at all. And i was shocked when someone answered at the end of the line, but then quickly hung up. I started panicking and searched the whole house. I couldn't find my cellphone at all. I called my friends and asked them to try and call my cellphone to see if anybody picked it up. They said that someone answered but then hung up. Starting to get migraine, i called the boss and asked him to asked his workers to see if anyone of them took my cellphone. I got worried because most of my contacts were in there and most of them were so important to me. I couldn't even concentrate on drawing my Cavaliers because i got so worried about my phone.

So today, i heard from Pak Ramli that he sent the guys to the police station. They didn't confess, so Pak Ramli said that hopefully they will confess behind bars. I started feeling guilty about it. Maybe it wasn't them after all. Maybe it was someone else. Maybe i must had it misplaced somewhere. Argh it hurts my head. My mum said i shouldn't worry about it too much. I know, but still.... *sniffs*

I feel really awful now.

Goodbye 2008, hello 2009

It's kind of sad that 2008 is leaving us all. In about 45 minutes time, the baby 2009 will appear and start saying bye bye to old man 2008. Recapping back the year before, there has been tremendous change, tears, happiness, awesomeness and all sorts mingled in my so-called life. I broke up, i met new friends, i got quite a few freelance project, i was way behind my Cavaliers #2 schedule, I quit my job as an illustrator, i bought over RM1000 worth of comics, i had a crush on someone 6 years older than me but it fizzles off, i haven't been drawing much lately this year and i guess because there's no motivation, i was given a post in the Pekomik, the organization of comic enthusiasts as the treasurer, i have a great family at Main Enterprise (that i sometimes leave behind a few months due to very bad time management) and lots more things happening. Needless to say, i have learn a lot of new things, experience crazy and extreme emotions and i feel rather happy about it. I hope that 2009 will be so much better and iam looking forward to being a new person. I will be officially 30 years old on September 17th 2009. Wow. 30 years old. Scary.

You've been a great year, 2008. Love you lots. (hugs the old man 2008)

I attended the Comic Fiesta 08 as a volunteer for the Pekomik Booth. I didn't prepare stuffs of mine to be sold at the booth though. I was busy helping out my 'little sis' with her comics, doujinshis and bookmarks. It's her first time selling her artworks and i must say, most of the visitors liked her work. Made me proud that i managed to teach her a few ropes on comics and stuff. LOL XD! I made new friends, met old friends, hang out, laugh, joke, whatever. It was pretty much tiring and exciting at the same time. There were some awkward moments when i met my old college mate and i had no idea what to talk about. I'm not too sure if i ever want to do it again next time around. I'm planning to experience a comic convention in America instead. And i'm hoping to meet all my friends there. To name a few, Jim Main, Lance Boucher, Sam gafford, Jack Bertram, John Lambert, Dennis Kinniger, Wally Lowe, Jim Salicrup, Todd Dezago, Colleen Doran, Mike Wieringo (OOPS! Things that i was very much crazy over back in the 90's...

The New Kids On The Block. Oh yeah. Very crazy over them indeed. In fact i was inspired by them, the Cavaliers were born. :p

Inoue Takehiko's Slam Dunk. I was so excited about this anime and manga because the strokes and the way he draws humans are just so.... amazing. and he still draws amazing anatomy. Kudos to Mr.Takehiko!

And of course, not forgetting the Legionnaires. I fell in love with them in 1994, while i was browsing for comics at a local bookstore. It just hit me on the head and i'm a big fan of Legionnaires and Legion of Superheroes since then. Not turning back. And i really like this penciller who drew this version. Anybody know who he/she is?

Funny that i can't seem to find my photoshop and illustrator cs3 cd. I know i've put it somewhere. I hate it when i misplaced things! Baka! LOL XD

Comic Fiesta is coming soon. On the 20-21st December. I'm working on Cavaliers #2. Yesterday I've discovered my very early version (not really THAT early) of Cavaliers and it's about how they met and how the Cavaliers came about. Very very different from the idea i have now. In fact, it's so different that i have forgotten how i actually start thinking about it in the first place. But as i read through the 46 pages of comic that did, i felt very nostalgic about it. Something deep within me moved and i smiled the whole night. I realized this Cavaliers project has been in my blood ever since, and i certainly can't be parted with it. They're like my family. My sons. I need to look after their well-being and i need to protect them from any harm. Yeah it sounds kind of corny, but i really love them. After all, i created them. LOL XD!

I started listening to Vanessa Mae's Contradanza. I haven't heard the song for awhile. This particular song inspired me to draw the robust energetic attitude of the Cavaliers and their distinguishable passion for adventure. Every rhythm, every harmony, every notes, has a drama and story unfolding within it. I was very much excited to relate the group with this music. It's so much fun and there's abundance of freedom in the music. It's almost as if it's portraying the every essence of being youths, teenagers, children. It's the freedom of life itself. Wow it's giving me goosebumps!

I'm going to try my hands on drawing Nova Kane, E-man's partner and maybe girlfriend i suppose.

But i need to get me a photoshop and illustrator first. :)

Oh by the way, here's some pages from the early Cavaliers comic i had worked on.

The idea is pretty lame. I'm happy i developed it into something entirely different now. XD And no, Jule's body is not as beefed up as in the above comic.

Gotta get photoshop after lunch. In the meantime I'll work on the latest Cavaliers #2. I think i'm going to be very happy getting back on track again. :)

New Transformers 2 Details Revealed at Hasbro Licensing Summit

Since the crack crap reporting team at Entertainment Tonight wasn’t able to get any new details after spending a whole day on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I thought I’d pass along the news which was revealed at the Hasbro Licensing Summit in Malaysia this week.

The Chevy Corvette Centennial concept car (seen in the photo above) is actually the alt mode for Sideswipe. Described as a brave but often rash warrior, Sideswipe was part of the initial crew of Autobots. In the original animated series, Sideswipe and his twin brother Sunstreaker, took the form of Lamborghini sports cars. He later took the form of a 1997 Lamborghini Diablo, 1999 Dodge Viper, and the Cobra Stinger.

Ravage will appear in the film with “very raw beast mode”. Ravage was featured in both the original animated series and Beast Wars, and took the form of a robotic jaguar. He was featured in an original draft of Bay’s Tranformers, but later replaced with Scorponok.

Megatron’s alt mode is confirmed to be a tank. Looks like the leaked concept photos are legit.

And the Devastator rumors might also be confirmed with the news that a super-sized transformer that combines multiple toys will retail for $50+. In the original series, six constructicons combine to transform into the huge giant robot known as Devastator.

Freelance art lecturer?

I had a ball at Sekolah Tengku Ampuan Rahimah today. Not only did i get back to my old school and embedded within my head the nostalgia, but also i had the privilege to share my comic experience with the school students. Which to me was a harrowing experience. Nevertheless it taught me something valuable - confidence.

So anyway me and my partner-in-crime 'Z' went to the school at around 8am. Turned out that we were late at presenting because of some technical problems. But we managed to start off and 'Z' was the first to present his modules. I was sitting trying to ease my nervousness by drawing and doodling. Unfortunately it didn't actually work.

All the while he was presenting folios after folios, my heart was pounding ferociously. What will i say to those kids? Will i faint? Will i freak out? All these questions popping in my head made me agitated and i had to rush to the toilet. When i came back, the first session was over and the students came to me for advise and demonstration.

I met this wonderful artist. Her name's Siti Hajar and she showed me her work. Which was really excellent to say the least. Manga die-heard by the way. Which was pretty cool. Even Kaoru (Malaysia's own manga artist) would be impressed. Everyone else showed their works. They had really great talents. Too bad no one's taking them seriously.

I had a ball drawing fast sketches for them. They were all surprised that i completed a full bodied pose in 2 minutes. Me and the kids chatted and exchanged tips and tricks, and experiences. Then came my time to conduct the workshop. I started to tremble.

The first few minutes was okay. I had their attention by introducing myself and what i did for a living. Then i started getting all mixed up. I knew i did some text and keywords, but i just had trouble explaining it. Moments later i saw some kids yawning away. So i had to think fast. I taught them how to draw figures and emotions. Luckily that worked. Although i think i must have elaborated the points too detailed, i think i was beginning to enjoy myself.

I gave them free comic books for their effort in answering questions and coming up to the stage and draw a few things i asked them too. Some were too shy but that was okay. I eyed a few enthusiastic participants, and i knew they're very serious in drawing comics. After the whole thing was over, the students thronged to the table i was at and gave me their A4 sized papers. They wanted me to sketch them drawings. I felt kind of flattered and they didn't want to let me leave.

But everything has an end and we had to leave. A few students caught up with us and were telling us how excited they were about the workshop. Z decided to let me be Siti Hajar's mentor, and i must say, i was very happy. It had always been my dream to teach kids how to draw. We went on to the mamak restaurant and had ourselves a hearty lunch. I had my fried noodles with fried chicken while 'Z' had his friend noodles with squids. Eeeewwww.

We will certainly conduct more comic related workshops to various schools in Klang. I'm looking forward to this adventure. It was intense, but at the same time exciting and educational.

Now that i'm happy that the net connection is here to stay... (OH PLEASE STAY!) i can get in touch back with the world. Wow... my dA has been idle for months! So's Myspace and a whole bunch of other sites. Scary.

Lots of obstacles and crazy stuff i have to put up with soonest. So i hope i'm brave enough to face them. I don't have a sword or a bow, but i know i have a spirit in me. *wink wink*

Hari Raya is here again. I've been busy handling guests and foods for the festival. I met lots of my relatives, near and far and it's neat. What's not neat is that my internet is failing me for the past few weeks. I was kind of bored without the net. Finally i'm online again. Whooppeee. :p

Green Lantern movie

Something i got from IGN...

The IESB has an early look at Greg Berlanti's The Green Lantern plus updates on George Miller's Justice League of America.

A few years ago, we reviewed the GL script Robert Smigel wrote with comedian Jack Black in mind -- D.C. and Warner Bros. wisely decided against going down that route, maybe we had something to do with that when we shit all over it, read our review here.

But, there has been quite of bit of buzz lately coming from Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green's newest take on the Green Lantern and I managed to find a copy in my hands.

Let me start off with saying that within just reading the first few pages, I knew Berlanti, Guggenheim and Green had gotten the character right.

I don't want to do a traditional script review, instead I want to give IESB readers more of a sense of the story by going through some plot details and my thoughts on the screenplay. Wait a minute, that is a review. Let it begin...

It starts off with the revelation of Oa and The Central Battery with a voice over narration explaining that 1) there are extraterrestrials that protect the universe, 2) they have power rings, 3) there are thousands of Green Lanterns and 4) one of us has become one of them.

We go from one part of the universe to another and find ourselves in a familiar Solar System…our own.

Before I share some of the details let's do a quick character list of those we will see in the movie if this script gets the "green" light.

A few cameos include a certain mild mannered reporter from the Daily Planet, a certain college football coach with the last name of Gardner (who we are promised in the script we will see more of in the second film) and loads of other characters sure to keep fanboys orgasmic throughout.

Back to the script - The story follows the traditional Hal Jordan/Green Lantern story lines to a certain degree including the battle between Legion and Abin Sur, Abin Sur's crash landing on Earth, as well as the choosing of Hal Jordan over Guy Gardner and Clark Kent.

Parts are straight out of the Emerald Dawn series including Jordan's simulator being ripped out of the training center and flown to a dying Abin Sur and Hal Jordan going to Oa to help defeat Legion.

The major difference is in the Sinestro character arch. I don't want to give too much away but the writers were very careful to stay true to the character without blowing their load on the first film.

The other difference is also introducing Hector Hammond into the story line and making him the big threat to Earth or Gaia if you prefer.

From the first major beat of the story - that is sure to bring a tear - to the revelations at the end of the movie that easily set up prequels as well as sequels this script has it all. Also, unlike other recent superhero movies, this Green Lantern story has science fiction elements such as visiting other planets and major space battles.

It's a quick read and is a mere 109 pages but is action packed from the beginning to end. It has the potential to be bigger than Iron Man or maybe even The Dark Knight.

The script, if greenlit, is a sure-fire hit for fan boys, but in scale it's big, VERY big, and we are hearing rumors that it may be too big for the director currently attached, Greg Berlanti.

But who would the studio trust to take on a franchise of this size?

First, let me say that the studio execs love this GL script, they really dig it - and get it which is always important - and word is they are prepared to spend a pretty penny.

Changing gears for a sec, let's see what's currently going on with Justice League of America. Last week there were reports that the movie is finally moving forward. Guess what - that's not what we heard.

IESB found out the complete opposite from various sources at WB -- the movie will not move forward in its current incarnation and a lot has to do with the success of The Dark Knight. Warner Bros. is not willing to risk pissing off Christopher Nolan or Christian Bale and their intent would be to move forward with a third Batman film instead of introducing another Batman in a JLA film.

Officially WB is stating that Justice League of America is on hold due to the potential SAG strike. We have been advised from various sources that the truth is that George Miller has been pulled off the project. We have contacted all parties involved including Kennedy/Miller and other producers but they have declined to comment at this time.

So does that mean that Miller is out of a job? Nope, we have been told that some execs over at Warner Bros. would like Miller to take over The Green Lantern project. Any truth to the rumor? Only time will tell but one thing is certain in my purest fan boy opinion - this script totally kicks ass!

OMG OMG OMG Green Lantern movie! Next thing will be Legion of Superheroes! And then probably Elfquest! But i'm not biting my tongue yet! Green Lantern will definitely wet my appetite for comic book movies! Besides, he's one of my fav comic character. Whoo hooo!!!

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim wins election, despite smears

Anwar Ibrahim, the Malaysian opposition leader disgraced and humiliated by accusations of corruption and sexual misconduct, was set to be restored to office today, in an election victory that brings to an end eleven years of political exile.

Incomplete results showed that Mr Anwar had easily won a by-election which will enable him to take full control of the opposition coalition and puts him a position to attempt an unprecedented take over of Malaysia’s parliament.

It also raises the stakes in his latest round of legal troubles – a new accusation of homosexuality, one of the charges which ruined his career in 1998. This evening’s expected victory in a constituency in the state of Penang demonstrates that many Malaysians believe what Mr Anwar has insisted all along – that the charges are a crude government plot to disgrace the politician with the biggest chance of bringing change to Malaysian politics.

With most votes counted, Mr Anwar had an unassailable lead of at least 15,000 votes. “This vote means Malaysians want the truth,” Mr Anwar said after the close of voting. “It is Anwar versus the entire government. God willing, I am confident of winning.”

Homosexuality, or sodomy, is illegal in Malaysia, and in 1999 Mr Anwar was sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of sex with his male driver. He always insisted that the charge had been trumped up the year before by the ruling United Malay National Organisation (Umno), because of the challenge which Mr Anwar, the deputy prime minister, was planning against his boss, the then prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad.

In 2004, the conviction was overturned by Malaysia’s top court, although Mr Anwar, who was also convicted of corruption, was barred from standing for parliament until April this year. In March, however, the opposition coalition, of which was de facto leader, achieved its greatest ever electoral success, coming close to toppling Umno and drastically undermining the leadership of the current prime minister, Abdullah Badawi.

Mr Anwar was negotiating with government supporters in the hope that they would change sides and claimed that the opposition would be able to seize control of parliament in September. Then, in June, a 23-year old aide to Mr Anwar filed a police report alleging that he had had sex with him in an apartment in Kuala Lumpur. Mr Anwar indignantly denied the claim.

To his enemies, the sodomy allegations are further evidence of his unfitness for office in a Muslim majority country where homosexuality is regarded by many as abhorrent. Among his supporters, they are regarded as a crude and transparent ploy to smear and foil once again Malaysia’s most brilliant leader in a generation.

A telephone poll by the independent Merdeka Centre think-tank suggested that the latter are in the majority, at least in the by-election constituency, Permatang Pauh – 59 percent of respondents said that the sodomy allegations were politically motivated.

But Mr Anwar’s victory also owes much to the failings of Umno under its current leader, the prime minister, Abdullah Badawi.

Mr Anwar has promised to deal with record inflation and to reduce the cost of fuel, which went up by 41 percent in June. He also proposes doing away with a system of institutionalised racial discrimination which gives education and business advantages to members of the Malay majority, of which he is one, at the expense of the Chinese and Indian minorities.

It was my mum's birthday on the 9th of July, 2008. She is now 63. Well, she looks pretty young for her age... (oh i can see her glowing with pride now). I decided to buy her a cake instead of presents. That's because i didn't have much money. So i went to this place called Secret Recipe (http://www.secretrecipe.com.my/) and bought her this Sugar Free Moist Chocolate coz she couldn't take sugar. On my way home, just as i was driving, a Honda Stream in front of did an emergency break. So i had to quickly brake and then BAM! Someone hit me from behind. The cake that i placed at the backseat fell off. And instead of worrying about the car, i said "Oh no i squashed the cake!". The car was ok though, just a few scratches. It was the guy at the back that was crying his way to the bank. It was his fault, but i told him that it was ok. So i went back home worrying sick about the cake, not the car. When i got home, i quickly opened the package and.... PHEW! The cake was fine. A little squishy, but still looked like a cake. :p At least it's still edible.

A brand new day

As of a few weeks ago ( i don't remember and i intend not to ) i left Cerdik Publications for a greener pasture. I am now back to being a full time freelancer. I had such bad times in the company. With so many back stabbings and bad-mouths and under-appreciative eyes ( not to mention double agents and spies about )around, no wonder so many people left the company. And they actually made it big out there. I'm one of the staff to leave alright. Unintentionally, but drastically leave.

I'm tired of being the subject of ridicule and blame. Hey i can't help it if I'm an outgoing and rebellious person. Maybe because i hang out with the guys often. I dunno. Another thing is that... i worked my buns off just to produce illustrations for school kids. Making sure that the artwork will make them smile. My intention is to educate the kids at the same time entertain them. It's very disappointing when they were arguing about my strokes, saying it's not appropriate. Huum... no one complained the last 6 months. Why now? So there is something fishy going on. True enough, i heard that they are going to sake me for good. To get a more cheaper illustrator because they can't afford me. Not that my salary is the lowest in the company anyway. No joke. So to get even, i decided to resign before they fire me. Nobody predicted this but who cares? I just went off. Tata. Adios. Slitzweitz. Sayonara. Selamat tinggal. And all that.

It's been 2 weeks since i left. Guess what? Right after i left, i managed to get 3 projects. :) Yup. 3. Thanks to my buddy and great friend ( an a pirate ) Abang Zamri, he guide me to various companies in need of illustrators. The first one was from SJ Group of Companies. Mr.Faisal wanted me to create a children's book based on his 7 year old son Rayyan. It's called The Dreamy Adventures of Rayyan. Which sounds pretty interesting. Next was the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka ( http://dbp.gov.my/indek_dbp.html )project. Adapting the Malaysian history and legends into comic form. Which sounds very cool and challenging. If the project kicks off, i hope i can be one of them. It'll be a pioneer project so... you get the idea how excited i am. :)Then another project. This time i am approached by 2 ustaz ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulema ) who also happens to be cartoonists ( way cool! ) as well. They want to find girl comic artist and it's so hard to find one. Enter Abang Syem and he recommended me to them. They want me to creat 3 muslims girls to be made into a comic for girls. Well, they need a girl to draw a girl's comic right? So i accept the challenge. :)

Pretty exciting life i am going through now. Now that the pc is fixed ( it got struck by lightning and the phone line went dead ), all i need to do is to install a few softwares ( boy do i need to learn InDesign )and some other stuffs and voila! I can start doing my work! this time i really need to keep myself in check because i do still owe Uncle Jim ( Hahahahahha i feel like saying that ) a few comics. And i mean a few. *gulps* Wow, i will be quite busy, and that's a good thing. :)

Witchblade artist passed away at 37

Me as a comic book artist and lover are very sad to say that artist Michael Turner has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 37. Aspen Comics’ Vince Hernandez told CBR News Saturday morning that Turner passed away Friday night at 10:42 Pacific Time at Santa Monica Hospital in Calfiornia. The news spread quickly at Wizard World Chicago, during what would have otherwise been a riotous night at the hotel bar, the mood suddenly turned somber with remembrances of Turner from friends and acquaintances. A minute of silence will be observed during Wizard World Chicago Saturday afternoon.

Turner is an artist best known for his work on books like “Witchblade,” where he got his start in comics, moving on to titles such as “Black Panther,” “Superman/Batman” and his very own creator owned series “Fathom” and “Soulfire” through his publishing company Aspen Comics. A prolific artist, he’s done work for both DC Comics and Marvel Comics, and has provided covers to some of the best-known comics published in the last ten years, including Brad Meltzer’s “Identity Crisis.”

In 2000, Turner was diagnosed with cancer -- chondrosarcoma in the right pelvis, which resulted in his loosing his hip, 40% of his pelvis and three pounds of bone. What followed was 9 months of radiation. The cancer has gone into remission and returned multiple times since he was first diagnosed.

For anyone who’s met Turner, they’re likely to tell you what a genuinely nice guy he was and how his spirit for life was higher than anyone else they had ever met. Oddly, my path crossed with Turner’s numerous times. We both live in Los Angeles, and on at least five different occasions we would run into each other at clubs or special events around the city. He seemed like the kind of guy who was up for anything and had a great sense of adventure, especially as evidenced by his love and excellence at water-skiing and martial arts.

Last year during Comic-Con International in San Diego, I invited Michael Turner out to the CBR Yacht for an interview. He was happy to come out to the boat. His colleague and friend, Vince Hernandez, called me the Saturday afternoon the interview was scheduled to say they were running late, but were on their way. I went to the end of the dock to greet them and there, off in the distance, was Michael, Vince and a friend of theirs walking slowly towards our slip. They were walking slowly because Michael was on crutches, recovering from the latest round of surgeries and treatment. It was a hot day, but there was Michael, making his way to the boat with a smile on his face. His strength of will was truly inspirational.

The resulting interview was a wonderfully sweet one. I remember talking with him about his comics, his covers, his health and much more. After the interview he and his crew hung out on the boat for a while, enjoying the calm moment away from the convention with a soda and good conversation.

Sadly, that video interview never made it on to the site (not for anything to do with Michael or the content of the interview), but we’ll make sure that video is encoded this week and published in his memory and so that all of you can see what sort of man Turner was.

Turner’s fight with cancer was truly inspirational. He fought it with dignity and grace.

Julian Arkenstone is a jovial down-to-earth happy-go-lucky kind of person. He's fun, exciting, he's hyper, he gets everyone in a good mood. But sometimes things can get a little out of hand. He has this 'glomp' habit. Every time he feels extra happy, he cannot restrain himself and he'll go glomp someone. It's ok though, as long as he doesn't glomp Jordan. Like what the Hulk would say, "You wouldn't like me when i'm angry."

First day at the gym...

..was a success, more or less.

I decided to join in this all-girl gym because i realized a few things happening in me. First, my waistline is getting very large, i haven't been moving much since i started working, i have been getting sick and fainting spells easily lately, and the ultimate... i can't wear my clothes anymore!!!

So the first thing was the treadmill. Ok, no big deal. I was on it for half an hour. When i got off, i felt like the world is coming after me and i can't seem to stand still. WOAH! Talk about first time! O_O I managed to get my balance, then on towards that cycling machine. Ok, another half an hour. Oh dear my legs were hurting. Managed to survive, i felt a little lighter. Then on towards the normal gym equipments. Pretty nifty. after all that, i felt a little lighter, and also my reflexes seemed to be a little faster too, which was incredible. See i'm typing this pretty faster than before. :p LOL XD

Hopefully i can keep up with the gym. I just wanna have a healthy life that's all. The stress and everything, the work, so i figured the gym can really release it all in one go, in a healthy way.

My goal? I would so love to wear my old clothes back! LOL XD!!!!

Eversince me best friend RumbleDaisy sent me this link of Zedge, i was very hooked on it. I love the wallpapers they provide, i have been downloading loads of it eversince. Now i'm trying to make my own. YEAY! Zedge is way cool, coz of the fact that i love to personalize my cellphone. LOL!

Also i am working on to xerox my comics for the KL Convention Center book fest this coming 25th.I don't have the enough money to order some copies of Cavaliers #1 at the moment, so i will have to resort to xeroxing my master copy. It's cheaper that way/ *shrugs*
